The economic impacts

ICAB creates an economic spin-off in relation to its activities through indirect impacts related to the supply chain in particular for:

  • Farmers from whom they source their raw material;
  • The transporters of raw material, upstream, and downstream logistics outbound;
  • The activities of maintenance services, outsourced to external firms, to set up the facilities in anticipation of the start of production activities.

Looking at the indirect economic impacts of the past three years, 2020 was a year marked by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this year, sales of the past increased significantly due to the lockdown, which forced people to stay indoors. In 2021, on the other hand, we saw a reversal of the trend from the previous year, in which home consumption was favored. In the year 2021, numerous investments were made in industry 4.0 machinery and equipment, which led to optimization of production capacity, both in terms of cost and time. In the year 2022, ICAB continued to make investments in state-of-the-art machinery, achieving significant energy and water savings.

The fight against corruption

In the context of ICAB's activities, the main corruption risks appear to be related to any dealings with institutional entities in the context of access to funds and financing or in the context of any dealings with the Public Administration. In the 2019-2020 biennium, we had relations with the Campania Region as part of a subsidized finance intervention.

At present, there is no structured system in the company for the prevention of these cases. Despite this, no incidents of corruption have emerged during the period reported in this Sustainability Report or in previous periods.

ICAB requested theCompetition and Market Authority the Legality Rating, whose last renewal was obtained in the 2021 e valid for a two-year period, until August 2023. The Legality Rating is an indicator that assesses the compliance with certain standards of legality by companies that operate according to the principles of legality, transparency, social responsibility and, more generally, the proper management of their business, to the attribution of which rating are recognized advantages when granting public funding and facilities for access to bank credit. The application can be made by all companies (both in individual and corporate form) that meet the following requirements:

  • They have their operational headquarters in Italy;
  • Have a minimum turnover of two million euros in the fiscal year ended in the year preceding the year of application;
  • They have been registered in the commercial register for at least two years as of the date of application;
  • They meet the other requirements of the Regulations.

The rating gives a score between a minimum of one and a maximum of three "stars." The basic ★ score is obtained when there is compliance with all the requirements set out in Article 2 of the Implementing Regulations on Legality Rating, a score that can be increased by a "+" for each additional requirement that the company complies with among those set out in Article 3 of the Regulations. The achievement of three "+" results in the award of an additional star, up to a maximum score of ★★★.

ICAB scored ★++ (basic rating). Which, among the services included:

  • An initial check-up of the potential rating level;
  • An analysis of risks and regulatory offenses;
  • The compilation of the necessary documentation;
  • Assistance in mailing the application.
